I love her hair and her expression! I really like the bright, cheerful look on her face, with her cute smile and the bright, friendly eyes. Though my favorite element is her hair! I love the shapes and flow of it -- the way you have loose strands breaking free from the overall mass/shape adds a ton of life and energy to it. But I think the bright, warm colors, and how they softly transition from red to yellows, adds a TON of energy. It reinforces the motion and flow of the hair because the colors are so active, especially since they contrast with the cooler colors of everything else. I'm probably not explaining well, but I think your color choices worked out really well.

I like the textures you added to her tail and to her upper body. They feel like undersea...stuff that's clinging to her body, and adds some nice visual drama to her design.

Cute painting! : )

Ahh thank you! <3 Your comment made me so happy C:

Hair is my favorite thing to paint <3 Everything else has to follow a certain set of rules, but hair can just be free and loose and I just love it!

This was a really fun painting to do, and I'm really glad you enjoy it!

Hair is tough for me. I don't have a good feel for giving it a nice, fluid sense of flow. If I try to get too loose with drawing or painting hair, which is when I think it looks best (like you've done here!) I just end up with a squiggly mess. ^^;

But yeah, I enjoyed it a lot! You're very welcome!

Aww, you've just gotta practice C: My hair looked crazy too until I got the hang of it. (seriously, you should see my earlier stuff! My hair is just a bunch of lines that don't make much sense :3)

Oops. That new "call out" feature, or whatever it's called where you can grab someone's attention by putting an @ and then their name, caused me to accidentally call out blackxxraine in that last reply since it pulls up a drop-down box of names anytime you put an @ in a message now. I'm sorry if that caused any confusion. ^^;

I tend to do a cartoonier style, with less individual strands and more solid shapes. Though, sometimes (especially in my earlier stuff) it ends up looking like a helmet more than hair! @___@ Now, it means everyone has really similar hair, with spiky bangs that clutter up the face. @____~blackXXraine

But you're right, I just need to practice!

Oh, I see what you mean. It's harder to do in a simpler, cartoony style! Especailyl because everything is made up of basic shapes, and too many lines would get confusing.
(altough, your newest drawing looks really good, especially with the hair!) C:

Huh, that's weird. I was commenting on a different piece, by a different art, but I went to do that @___@ emoticon, and since dA has it now where you can call someone out using @ and then their name, and it brings up a short list of people whenever you start something with @ , it looks like I accidentally did a call out to you in that comment. .___.;;

Embarrassing! Sorry about the confusion! ^^;
